Senior Vice President of Communications

Job Summary:

The Senior Vice President of Communications (SVPC) is responsible for the development and execution of the organization’s communication strategy. The position has a focus on strategic industry communications among PERC staff, industry partners, state and regional partners, marketplace partners and more. The position promotes, enhances, and protects the propane industry’s brand messaging and reputation. The SVPC is responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of communication activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization. This person builds strategic relationships with members of the propane industry and the media, advancing the organization’s position with relevant stakeholders, as well as driving broader awareness and support for the propane industry. The SVPC is responsible for PERC’s varied and integrated communications products and services including: newsletters and other print publications; web, e-news, and other online communications; media and public relations; and marketing.  Prepares and presents materials for Board of Director review/approval on communication projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing.  Advanced degree preferred.

Working Conditions: Office Work Environment (50%-100%) / Travel (up to 50%)

Director of Agriculture Business Development

PERC has an excellent opportunity for a Director of Agriculture Business Development. This position reports to the Senior Vice President for Business Development (SVPBD) and is the chief architect of the agricultural market portfolio. The primary job is to maximize propane consumption for agricultural markets, as well as some sectors of the industrial and high-horsepower, off-road engine markets. The work focus is on promoting and facilitating the adoption of propane-powered equipment, appliances and vehicles, and includes market engagement, product development, product commercialization, and market outreach to preserve existing markets, and identifying and capitalizing on new market opportunities. This position could be based out of a home-based office for the right candidate with proven ability to be self-motivated and directed.

This position develops market plans, goals, objectives, and tactics, and leads projects to achieve the industry goals. This position engages partner industries, including original equipment manufacturers, equipment distributors, and dealers to support propane growth in the agricultural and industrial engine markets. Additionally, this position will work with internal and external teams, including contractors, communications partners, and product development partners.

This position will oversee multiple market development projects, and the right candidate will possess strong negotiation, communication, relationships building, and successful project management skills, while also being strategic, with a willingness to work on the details of projects.

Other responsibilities include engaging strategic partners in the market to build strong relationships. Remaining up-to-date on market trends, customers’ interests and buying behaviors, and competitive products. Developing the market strategy and identifying tactics that drive demand for propane in the agriculture area. Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by PERC staff and outside market analysis services as needed.


  • A BS Degree or higher is required.
  • 5-10 years of experience required.
  • An understanding of industrial and agricultural markets, plus engine technologies, is highly preferred.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills is required with the ability to speak before both small and large audiences.
  • Strong project management skills - ability to perform well on multiple concurrent projects while working under tight timelines.
