Engine Fuel Advisory Committee (EFAC)
The Engine Fuel Advisory Committee pursues technology development to promote the use of propane as an engine fuel, a market that accounts for about 5 percent of the total non-chemical propane used in the United States. The committee seeks programs that increase off-season demand through projects that encourage the development, commercialization, and marketing of propane-related engine technologies.
Working closely with the Research and Development Advisory Committee and the Agriculture Advisory Committee in areas where the missions overlap, the Engine Fuel Advisory Committee emphasizes propane use in a wide range of off-road and on-road engine applications as well as stationary engines:
• School buses and shuttle buses.
• Heavy-duty trucks.
• Refueling systems.
• Airport vehicles and equipment.
• Forklifts.
• Locomotive applications.
• Stationary equipment.
