Propane Education & Research Council Approves Funds for Forklift Maintenance Training, Capital Awareness Plan RFP
Washington, DC (February 13, 2004) — The Propane Education & Research Council met via conference call yesterday and approved funding requests for safety and training as well as consumer education projects.
In the safety and training area, the councilors approved a funding request to conduct additional forklift maintenance and training sessions around the country following a successful pilot program with these sessions last year. The amount authorized under Docket 11314 is $195,500. Also under safety and training, the Council authorized development of a report on the considerations and steps prerequisite to establishing a safety training foundation. The Council authorized up to $10,000 under Docket 11349 for this effort.
In approving Docket 11325, the councilors authorized the development of a communications plan to support the propane industry’s Energy Guys advertising campaign, which started airing nationally on February 9. The amount approved under this docket is $94,950. Additionally, the councilors approved moving forward with expanded criteria to select local markets to support the national advertising campaign. These criteria will be announced at the April 1-2 Council meeting in Atlanta, GA.
Also under the consumer education area, the Council approved Docket 11350 for a request for proposals (RFP) to develop a communications plan to enhance awareness of propane among key decision makers in Washington, DC. PERC and the National Propane Gas Association will jointly develop the RFP.
In other action, the Council rescheduled its fall meeting for October 7-8 at Yosemite National Park in California. The Council’s next meeting in Atlanta, GA, will begin at noon Eastern Standard Time (EST) on April 1 and conclude by 5 p.m. EST on April 2.
