Propane Council Accepts Task Force Recommendation on Lead Communications Agency (PDF)

WASHINGTON (March 9, 2012) — The Propane Education & Research Council, meeting by conference call last week, accepted a recommendation from a task force of propane industry volunteers to pursue an agreement with Swanson Russell (Lincoln, Neb.) that would make the firm the Council’s new lead communications agency.

The Council authorized PERC President and CEO Roy Willis to develop a working agreement with Swanson Russell and begin collaborating with the agency on a communications program that supports the research and development of new propane-fueled products and the Council’s safety and training programs.

“Swanson Russell has extensive experience with product launch communications and strong partnerships with manufacturers, and the agency focuses on key market sectors such as agriculture, construction, and landscaping that are vital to our commercialization strategy,” Chairman Joe Armentano, CEO of Paraco Gas of Rye Brook, N.Y., said.

The task force, led by Council Vice Chairwoman Paula Wilson of AmeriGas (Valley Forge, Pa.), made the recommendation after choosing Swanson Russell from more than a dozen highly qualified firms that submitted proposals last December.

In other business, the Council approved the following funding requests:

Docket 17520 — Propane Autogas Emergency Responder Training Program, $101,425

Docket 17532 Light-Duty Autogas Vehicle Market Research, $44,125

Docket 17542 2011 API Survey and Report, $190,066

Docket 17582 — 2012 Procedural Guide for Application and Approval of Permit (state rebate), $15,000

Docket 17583 Propane Engine Fuel Delivery Component Investigation, $140,000

The Council will next meet April 13 in Atlanta.
