Propane Council to Meet July 15-16 in Colorado
The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) will convene in public session July 15 and 16 in Boulder, Colo. Download the agenda. For details about the meeting, get in touch with Anna Lombardo at email@example.com or 202-452-8975. (return to top)
Virtual Farm Connects Visitors to Propane Research, Safety Information
Propaneville Farms, a virtual demonstration farm, can help you show your agricultural customers the range of uses for propane on America’s farms and ranches and give them access to the latest research on propane equipment for the farm.
The site, at www.agpropane.com, features 12 pieces of propane equipment in six different areas of the farm, including a barn, field, orchard, shed, grain dryer, and outside.
Visitors will learn about equipment that is already commercially available and get a glimpse of some products that are in various stages of research and development. They will also get tips about the safe use and maintenance of propane equipment. (return to top)
Large Potential Market for Gas Heat Pumps
The newly released Propane Distributed Generation Market Assessment estimates that propane-fueled gas heat pumps could consume more than 140 million gallons of propane per year for residential and commercial markets combined.
Gas heat pumps can be a cost-effective heating and cooling solution for customers who are affected by high electricity pricing. To realize this market potential, the propane industry is supporting the development of a prototype 10-ton rooftop gas air conditioning package unit for commercial use. A yearlong field test of the unit is already under way.
For more information about this technology and its market potential, check out the full report, Propane Distributed Generation Market Assessment, available at www.propaneresearch.com. (return to top)
Three New Sessions Added to Marketer Training Calendar
The Propane Education & Research Council’s newest training program is teaching propane marketers around the country how supporting promising propane-fueled products can help stimulate demand for propane.
The PERC Marketer Technology Training Program covers the benefits and the business potential of three products — commercial lawn mowers, tankless water heaters, and irrigation engines. Each full-day training session features two of the three products. After a recent training session in Pennsylvania, Jeff Shaffer, president of Shaffer's Bottled Gas in Hooversville, Pa., said the PERC Marketer Technology Training program is "an absolutely intriguing way for growing gallons and growing my business."
Newly added to the training calendar are sessions in Pasadena, Calif., on August 26; Monterey, Calif., on Sept. 23; and Flintstone, Md., on October 26. Learn more about how the training can help you capture new gallon opportunities. See the training calendar for a complete list of events. (return to top)
Propane Safety Video Features Chef John Besh
This grilling season, the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) offers you and your customers an array of resources about safe outdoor living with propane: safety information, food preparation tips, and recipes for creating a fun and safe outdoor meal for the whole family.
The organization has teamed up with award-winning chef and restaurateur John Besh, author of My New Orleans: The Cookbook, to share his tips for creating an outdoor meal that all members of the family will love to prepare and eat. Watch a new safety video featuring Besh. (return to top)
Safety, Technology Awareness at Center of Industry Event
The 2nd Annual Propane Gas Association of New England Grill Safety Day in Concord, N.H., recently demonstrated how propane safety messaging can be the centerpiece of a high-visibility event. More than 1,000 attendees — twice the previous year’s turnout — learned about propane safety and got a taste of the versatility of propane grills as they sampled food grilled on-site. They also had the opportunity to test-drive the new Lehr lawn mower and try out propane-fueled leaf blowers and trimmers. For more information, get in touch with Joe Rose at firstname.lastname@example.org. (return to top)
Summer Safety Messages Your Customers Will Appreciate
Summer is a time for swimming, baseball, and all sorts of outdoor family fun activities. It’s also a good time to remind your customers about safe grilling, summer weather safety, power outages, and wildfire preparedness. A suite of 16 electronic modules on consumer propane safety can help you do it.
Each of the modules, available in English and Spanish, is devoted to a single subject and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Consumers can review the safety information they need when they are most willing to receive and retain the information.
Each module is based on the consumer safety materials available at www.usepropane.com. You can download the modules for placement on your website and send monthly electronic safety tips directly to your customers. For more information, get in touch with Stuart Flatow at email@example.com. (return to top)
Propane Plays Role in Home Performance
Home performance continues to gain momentum in the building industry, and the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has launched an online home performance resource designed to meet the needs of construction professionals. The newly developed landing page offers access to training courses, videos and detailed information that is organized by a blueprint of a home. Construction professionals can gain useful information on how propane can increase home performance in specific applications, including outdoor living, generators, cooktops and ovens, tankless water heaters, and high-efficiency furnaces.
